Longford - 1-8 Dublin - 0-7A smashing goal from corner forward Michael Hussey just before half-time at Cusack Park, Mullingar on Saturday evening gave Longford a well-deserved victory over the holders Dublin in the Leinster minor football championship semi-final.

The sides were deadlocked at 0-2 each when Hussey struck for the all-important goal, firing an unstoppable shot to the roof of the net from a tight angle.

Hussey then converted a couple of frees to leave Longford in a fairly commanding 1-4 to 0-2 lead at the interval.

Dublin were unable to find the goal they so badly needed in the second half.
