Scotland secured victory last night in Bremen thanks to Gateshead-born Don Hutchison.
The Everton striker marked his first start with a goal in the 66th minute to rock the European champions.
Germany, ranked number three in the world, were left shocked and saddened by this defeat which comes in the wake of a 3-0 defeat by the United States.
The match was delayed by 15 minutes because of a floodlight failure at the start of the second half, but that only seemed to give Scotland renewed energy and a sense of power.
The result was all the more remarkable as Scotland fielded a depleted side for this friendly.
But the goal wasn't long in coming. Paul Lambert began the move by picking out Callum Davidson and he knocked the ball into the path of Hutchison.
He showed remarkable coolness to rifle the ball beyond Lehmann to put Scotland in the driving seat.
