Sporting Fingal 2 Cobh Ramblers 0: FIRST DIVISION side Sporting Fingal booked their place in the fourth round with a win over Cobh Ramblers at Morton Stadium last night following two second-half goals by Peter Hynes.
Sporting striker Robbie Doyle saw a volley from 35 yards just past the half-hour mark rebound off the crossbar while Cobh's Graham Cummins' shot from eight yards was thwarted by the legs of goalkeeper Steve Williams nine minutes before the break.
After 59 minutes Sporting's Fiachra McArdle burst into the box and his cut-back found Hynes who drilled a low shot to the net. The same pair set up the second goal 15 minutes from time. McArdle found Hynes with a through pass and the striker was first to the ball ahead of goalkeeper James McCarthy and tapped the ball home.
The closest Cobh came to scoring was on 64 minutes when defender Kevin Murray shot tamely at Williams from six yards.
