MICHELLE SMITH'S magnificence in Atlanta makes the staging of the National swimming championships, this week in Dublin, even more incongruous. But the IASA are committed to business as usual on the domestic front with five days of national tests arranged, beginning today (4.0 p.m.) and winding up on Saturday.
A plethora of competitors who comfortably fit into the "stars of the future" category will be in action. They include the Cawley sisters from Mayo, Niamh and Sinead, Hugh O'Connor, a brother of Olympian Adrian, Chantal Gibney, Julian Dooley, Lee Kelleher and Colin Lowth.
Members of the Irish junior team to compete in the European championships in Copenhagen will also be in action. They are Lee Kelleher, Graham Beegan, Niamh Cawley, Claire Nixon and Brian Gibson. They fly out to Malta on Sunday for a week long pre European training stint.
