Under-21 Football Leinster Championship/ Kildare 0-12 Dublin 0-9: A scoring blitz near the end pushed Kildare into the Leinster Under-21 quarter-final at the expense of the holders Dublin in Newbridge on Saturday.
Kildare finished the game more impressively and from the outset were less wasteful with the opportunities they managed to create. However, Dublin made the smarter start to a game played in near-ideal conditions.
John Coughlan, back from injury this season, opened their account with a fine point from play and Michael McAuley added a second before Kildare's top scorer Padraig O'Neill converted a free.
The sides were level on three occasions during the first half and Gary White, who played well in midfield, tied up the game for the first time in the 12th minute.
Kildare took the lead for the first time through Emmet Bolton but Mark Vaughan replied with his only score of the afternoon.
Kildare had the final say of the opening half through O'Neill and led by 0-5 to 0-4 at half-time.
Dublin made a determined start to the second half but missed a goal chance before Kevin Leahy equalised.
A second Leahy free put Dublin into the slenderest of leads but again Kildare rallied.
O'Neill kicked over a free from close range to level the game for the fifth time and Bolton's second score had them in front.
The home side began to look comfortable when James Kavanagh put them into a two-point lead.
O'Neill put them three points ahead as the game went into additional time.
