After about 20 years of complaints from tennis players and the public about matches being hauled off court due to bad light and interminal rain delays, the All England Club have announced that they are finally prepared to face present-day realities. This week they announced changes to the start of play for the show courts ahead of this year's Wimbledon Championships, which begin on June 25th. At the French Open all matches except the finals begin before lunch and as early as 11.0 a.m. Play on the Wimbledon's Centre and Number One Courts will now begin at 1.0 p.m. rather than 2.0 p.m. every day, although the two finals will continue to start at the traditional time of 2.0 p.m.. Now, wasn't that easy?
