Inis Cara napped

Paul Carberry returns to the saddle at Tramore today and can prove his readiness for the likes of Dorans Pride and Cardinal Hill at Cheltenham by riding a couple of winners.

Carberry fractured two ribs when taking a heavy fall at Navan over a fortnight ago. With Cheltenham in mind the timing was terrible, but Mohera King in the opener and Inis Cara in the featured £12,000 Huzzar Vodka Handicap Chase can put the rider in a much better frame of mind.

Inis Cara won here over an inadequate two and a half miles on New Year's Day but since then has been taking on the very highest class of novice.

Michael Hourigan's charge was an honourable runner-up to Native Estates at Leopardstown and then was taking on something of an impossible task when third to Nick Dundee over the same course.

No novice in the country has been able to give Nick Dundee a race so far this season so there was no disgrace in that, and there is no Nick Dundee in opposition today.

Instead there are some consistent handicappers such as Oakler, Merry People and Vain Minstrel, but even though Inis Cara has to carry 11-11, he should still be very hard to beat.

Mohera King won a bumper at Cork in November and although unsuccessful since, the balance of his form gives Jimmy Mangan's horse a decent chance. It would also be a nice boost for the Cheltenham bumper hope, Biliverdin, who beat Mohera King by over a distance at Punchestown last month.

Colonel Yeager's trainer Martin Lynch can also get a boost with Manndaliy in the three- mile handicap hurdle. This one put in a much improved performance to be runner-up to Kanturk Girl at Thurles in January and off bottom weight must have a chance.

Willie Mullins's U Jump I Jump is the selection in the bumper, and Connys Hope could be worth a bet in the hunters chase.
