Inger Miller, who finished second to Marion Jones in both the 100 and 200 metres at the US Trials in July and was considered a real medal favourite in both events is now questionable for the games because of injury.

A spokeswomen for HSI, the track club for which Miller runs, said that the American is actually out of the 100 metres and that her status for the rest of the events would be addressed later. In addition to the 100 and 200 metres Miller was to be part of the US 400 metres relay team. It was reported that the runner severely strained her left hamstring while running in Los Angeles two weeks ago.
