Ireland's good form continues

EQUESTRIAN: Ireland are well on track for promotion back into the Samsung Super League after yesterday's victory in Lummen

EQUESTRIAN:Ireland are well on track for promotion back into the Samsung Super League after yesterday's victory in Lummen. It was the fourth Irish win in the 2007 series and a second successive triumph after last week's victory in Norway, reports Grania Willis.

Clears from all four members - Captain Shane Carey, Marion Hughes, Cian O'Connor and Conor Swail - left them level pegging with Germany on zero at the break, but with the German number three returning a discard eight-faulter, advantage was with the Irish, who had no need of a discard. Swail was given an easy by team manager Robert Splaine, but both Carey and O'Connor were foot perfect again. Hughes picked up four faults on her second tour, but the German challenge had already crumpled, leaving Ireland ahead by two fences at the finish.
