THE FAI has confirmed that Paraguay and Algeria will provide the opposition for the Republic of Ireland’s two early summer friendly internationals, writes Emmet Malone.

The two World Cup finalists will come to the RDS in late May as part of their preparations for South Africa.

Paraguay, who will be in Dublin on May 25th, will take on defending champions Italy, New Zealand and Ireland’s Euro 2012 opponents Slovakia, in the group stages of the World Cup, having qualified in third place of the South American group behind Brazil and Chile .

The Algerians arrive three days later as part of their preparations for meetings with Slovenia, the USA and England. The north Africans recently finished fourth at the African Cup of Nations.

Ticketing details for the games, which will be Ireland’s last before the team takes up residence in the new Aviva stadium, will not be announced until after next month’s friendly against Brazil at the Emirates in London.
