The Ireland men's and women's tennis teams triumphed as never before in the Four Nations senior internationals at the Sunday's Well Club in Cork at the weekend.

England, Scotland and Wales fell in turn to the consistent play of Owen Casey, John Doran, Gina Niland and Lesley O'Halloran.

The Irish campaign was rounded off convincingly with the whitewash of Wales in both men's and women's matches without the loss of a set. Niland and O'Halloran did not concede a game in singles to their respective opponents, Karen Fisher and Joanne Thomas.

The Irish senior players were also in frugal mood on Saturday when outgunning England in all rubbers.
