First into action were Mark Mansfield with Killian Collins of the Royal Cork Yacht Club. After a good start in race one, the Cork duo finished in third place after being just edged out of second on the finish line.

The second race saw them down the fleet and a 14th for Mansfield and Collins following a mainsheet problem on the starting line that saw the pair eighth overall.

In the Europe class, Maria Coleman had a 11-12-7 day to lie 17th overall. Roger Craig was best of the Irish boats in the Laser class with 23-6-6 result and is 11th overall. Team nominee Rory Fitzpatrick is not competing in this event.
