SAILING: Double-handed 420 sailors Tuathal Mac Colgáin (RStGYC) and Peter Duggan (KYC) were in second place after five races on day two of the Youth Sailing ISAF World Championships at Weymouth yesterday.

The Irish pairing showed a strong ability to move forward through the fleet, squeezing past their French rivals in race four to take fifth place at the line. Their strength was shown again when after a less-than-ideal first beat in race five they pulled back to the front of the pack and retrieved another sixth place to complement their consistent series of scoring.

"We raced here last winter against the British fleet and sacrificed the Irish 420 Nationals to train here in June, said Mac Colgáin. "The hard work is beginning to pay off. It's a happy place to be but we still have seven races to go."
