Republic of Ireland 2 Finland 1: Ireland earned a well-deserved win against Finland yesterday in the Madeira Tournament. Gary Dicker struck in injury-time to set up a game with Portugal on Friday that will decide the outcome of the competition.
Ireland took the lead through Stephen Ward on 49 minutes when he slotted under goalkeeper Niki Maenpaa from 15 yards. But the Finns equalised after 67 minutes when Roy O'Donovan fouled Jarno Parikka inside the area and Perparim Hetemaj fired home the penalty.
Dicker was well placed to win the game for Ireland when Maenpaa punched James Hand's cross straight to him and he finished from 10 yards.
