A 3-0 win over Belarus on Monday meant another victory would seal a place in the elite phase with Saturday’s concluding game against Finland to spare.
Dave Connell’s side started brightly with four goals in nine first-half minutes. Striker Megan Connolly fired the opener on 14 minutes, followed by goals from Savannah McCarthy, Lisa Casserly and Sara McGeough. Amy O’Connor added a fifth in first-half stoppage time. Casserly hit her second on 71 minutes and Rebekah Carroll made it 7-0 late in the tie.
