US Senior PGA Championship:  Five days and seemingly countless rain delays later, Hale Irwin emerged as the winner of the Senior PGA Championship at Valhalla, Kentucky, late on Monday.

Irwin won for the 40th time on the Champions Tour when he sank a short birdie putt on the 18th hole to edge Jay Haas by one stroke and capture the first major of the year on the senior circuit.

A week of flash floods, thunderstorms and tornado warnings forced the conclusion of the 72-hole event to be pushed back.

Irwin had a long putt for an eagle that came up just short on 18 and he tapped in to complete his round of par 71 and a four-round score of eight-under 276. He won the event for the fourth time.
