The Irish Sailing Association have named the sailors nominated for the Halidon ISA Junior Championship to be contested at the University of Limerick in two weeks time. The 12 sailors from five classes along with two `wild card' nominees will compete in 420 and Topper dinghies with the winner automatically going forward to the Eagle Star Champion of Champions event in October.

Marty Moloney of the Royal Cork Yacht Club is one of the ISA `wild card' nominees following his outstanding success in South Africa earlier this year when he won the Mirror World Championship. The second goes to Sarah O'Neill of the Royal St George YC who sailed for Ireland in this year's ISAF Youth Worlds in Finland.

Meanwhile, last weekend saw long-standing National Champion, Terry Harvey, taking a break from defending his title to act as Race Officer for the event at Carlingford. It was a weekend of firsts for the clinker-built fleet of 15 boats as Frank Miller and Clare Sheil won the event following a three-way tie for first place, also the first Dun Laoghaire win in 11 years. Miller's Dunmoanin was also the first fibre-glass hull to win the championship in 15 years.
