In the wake of both Olympic and Paralympic teams, Ireland's youngest ever Laser champion will spearhead the third Irish squad to visit Sydney harbour in as many months. Peter O'Leary (16) will lead a four-boat team at the ISAF World Youth Championships over Christmas.

O'Leary's Royal Cork clubmates, Colin Galvin and Mark Rose, will race in the boys' double-handed 420 class in their second appearance at the championships.

The squad includes a girls' 420 pairing, Clodagh O'Driscoll and Joanne Nelson, who hail from Schull, West Cork. It is also their second attempt at the championship.

The team is completed by A Level student Debbie Hannon from Larne, Co Antrim, who races from December 28th through to January 6th in the single-handed Byte class.
