The leading sides in Italy's Serie A all suffered an attack of the jitters at the weekend as league leaders Fiorentina lost 2-1 to AS Roma, champions Juventus could only draw with lowly Vicenza and Inter Milan slumped 5-3 at home to Lazio.

The trio of results left Fiorentina on top of the pile by two points from Roma, Inter and Juventus. Inter were subjected to utter humiliation as Lazio's Chilean striker Marcelo Salas scored after just 72 seconds' play.

Dutch midfielder Aron Winter equalised for Inter but further goals from Brazilian Sergio Conceicao and Roberto Mancini gave Lazio a 3-1 lead after 40 minutes. The damage was completed after the re-start by Conceicao and Pavel Nedeved, although Nicola Ventola pulled back two late goals for Inter.
