IT IS expected Paddy Jackson will start for Ulster ahead of Ian Humphreys in Ulster's Heineken Cup semi-final against Edinburgh at the Aviva Stadium tomorrow, writes JOHNNY WATTERSON.
Jackson, the Ireland Under-20 captain and outhalf, was invited to Carton House this season by coach Declan Kidney to train with the Irish team during the Six Nations Championship and has been a regular in the Ulster team in their Pro 12 campaign.
But the shift away from 30-year-old Humphreys for such a pivotal game in the club’s history is a significant move by coach Brian McLaughlin.
Jackson partnered South African scrumhalf Ruan Pienaar last weekend in Ulster’s 8-16 defeat to Leinster at Ravenhill Road, with Humphreys starting the match on the bench. Jackson played the entire game at outhalf.
