FRENCH coach Aime Jacquet has criticised Euro `96 organisers for favouring the home side by scheduling all England's matches at Wembley.
"They won't have any merit if they win," complained Jacquet yesterday.
"They have stage-managed everything to get them right to the end. That's English fair play for you," he added.
Jacquet underlined his complaint by pointing out France's decision not to play all their World Cup 1998 matches in Paris.
"You can see the contrast with France who have not made things easy for themselves in the 1998 World Cup. We are more `fair play' than the English," said Jacquet, who is still smarting after coming under fire in England for leaving out Newcastle's David Ginola and Manchester United's Eric Cantona from the French squad.
Jacquet insists that doubts over Cantona's character had nothing to do with him being left out of the squad. "It is the manner of playing, that's what interests me. For the rest, I don't care at all," he said.
However the French manager admitted Ginola's omission was more because of his personality, which could affect team spirit. Ginola has been known not to mince words when criticising teammates.
