Jaguar on streak

A BROKEN halyard couldn't stop Jaguar's winning streak at the Carlsberg Baily Bowl competition on Dublin Bay yesterday. Gale force winds swept Jaguar and her five-man crew skippered by Martin Byrne to victory with two wins and a second placing in the 12-boat class.

Byrne broke a halyard in the penultimate race on Sunday morning and was forced to retire in an effort to repair the damage, which he did, returning to the race course to win the last race and the event which doubled as the J24 East coast championship.

In the 22-boat Dragon class, Michael Cotter, with Andrew Craig and Don O'Dowd crewing, scored his first victory of the season in his new boat Whisper.
