Goalkeeper Warren Barrett played the game of his life, making several outstanding saves to lead Jamaica to a scoreless draw with defending World Cup champion Brazil in a first-round match of the CONCACAF Gold Cup in Miamia on Tuesday.

Barrett, the Jamaican captain, denied Romario who had two excellent scoring opportunities before a crowd of 43,754 at the Orange Bowl. Barrett's most important save came six minutes from time, as he knocked away a 22-yard shot from Romario.

The tie was considered a moral victory for the Jamaicans, who qualified for the World Cup for the first time and who are coached by Brazilian Rene Simoes.
