GOLF: Former Masters champion Zach Johnson shot a final round 65 for a 15-under-par 265 total to win the Sony Open at Waialae Country Club in Hawaii.

Johnson finished two shots ahead of David Toms (66) and Adam Scott (64) with Charles Howell III (66) fourth on 12-under.

Johnson went into the final round with a one-shot lead but found himself in a three-way tie at the turn. He started the back nine with consecutive birdies and added two more at the 14th and 18th to wrap up his fifth PGA Tour victory.

The 2007 Masters champion, picked up $972,000 for the win and has now won a least once in the last three seasons.

Toms and Howell III joined Johnson at 11-under entering the back nine, but Toms couldn’t match Johnson for birdies while Howell ended up bogeying 18 after consecutive birdies at the 16th and 17th.
