David Jones will start to piece together his football future after being cleared of all child abuse allegations at Liverpool Crown Court yesterday.
The former Southampton boss, forced to take extended leave from The Dell to fight the false claims, said: "I just want to get back on with what I feel I do best."
He added: "I didn't want to leave football - that was a shock for me. I have got to start from scratch and I'll do that. "The support I have had from Southampton players and the chairman Rupert Lowe has been exceptional. Regardless of what went on over the job - that's between me and Rupert."
A Southampton spokesperson confirmed that Jones is now an ex-employee of the club and Glenn Hoddle - who initially only took over for a one year period - is now the full-time boss.
Jones was cleared of all allegations after the prosecution at his trial said no evidence was being offered.
Aston Villa are poised to re-sign Republic of Ireland defender Steve Staunton on a free transfer from Liverpool. Villa manager John Gregory is optimistic that the deal for 31-year-old Staunton will be completed today. Staunton originally joined Villa from Liverpool in August 1991. He spent seven seasons at the club, helping them to win the League Cup in 1994 and 1996.
Stan Collymore has received the full support of Bradford City after suffering a suspected broken nose in a nightclub fracas on Sunday morning.
Bradford chairman Geoffrey Richmond said the club had exonerated the controversial striker of any blame over the incident, in which he was set upon by two men in a Birmingham nightclub.
Terry Venables has launched a bitter attack on the "designer people" at the Football Association for appointing Sven- Goran Eriksson as England manager.

Two players from Italian Serie A side Perugia, Christian Bucchi and Salvatore Monaco, have returned a second positive dope test.
Bucchi, 23, and Monaco, 28, were submitted to a test following Perugia's league defeat away to Lazio (3-0) on October 14th, and returned positive readings. A second test confirmed the presence of norandrosterone and anabolic steroids.
The Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) will decide whether to refer the case to the disciplinary commission of the Italian football federation. Both players could be suspended for up to two years.
