Many Irish Formula One fans will have a unique opportunity to see a Jordan Formula One car in action at Mondello Park at the Digifone Leinster Trophy meeting on Sunday, September 19th. The car will be driven by David Kennedy, no stranger to Mondello as he is a director of the circuit where he cut his racing teeth in Formula Ford racing back in the 1970s.

Eddie Jordan won the Leinster Trophy race at Mondello 21 years ago and commented: "I am delighted that the Jordan Grand Prix racing car is finally going to run in Ireland. It is a dream come true for the team, for all our Irish supporters, and for Jordan's Irish sponsor, Esat Digifone." Before its appearance at Mondello, the car will be raced in the Italian Grand Prix.

Sunday's Mondello meeting features the penultimate rounds of all the Irish championships. Philip Kehoe scored his fourth Formula Europa race win at Kirkistown last Saturday, but the New Ross driver trails Dubliner Vivion Daly by 30 points in the championship. In the Formula Ford Zetec Championship, Alan Ring on 251 points leads Paul Dagg (241), John O'Hara (211) and George McAlpin (197). Jonathan Taylor and Jonathan Fildes are the respective leaders of the Dunlop RT2000 saloon and Stryker Championships.

Niall Maguire competes in the Millennium Autos Galway Summer Rally on Sunday. Michael Barrable is now the only driver capable of beating Maguire for the title and the prestigious Vard Memorial Trophy. But Maguire only needs a top 10 finish on any one of his remaining events to win the championship.
