JORDANSTOWN College, the holders, and the hosts, UCC, will contest the final of the Collingwood Cup, inter-varsity soccer championship today at the Farm, Curraheen at 2 p.m.

Jordanstown continued on their high scoring way with 5-2 win over UCD while UCC overcame Dublin City University 2-0.

Jordanstown brought their aggregate total of goals from four games in the championship to 16 as they dominated UCD. They led 2-0 at half-time and were always in control.

Midfielder Barry Rooney and the powerful play up front of two Irish league forwards Jim McCloskey of Distillery and Chris Morgan, Crusaders saw the holders through.

McCloskey is leading goal scorer in the tournament and he brought his total to six when he scored the first goal of the match. Morgan added a second after 25 minutes.

John Grier, scored his fifth goal of the tournament and John Keane scored for UCD in the second half but Jordanstown continued to pull away with goals from Barry Rooney, Pat Cavanagh and a second from Morgan.

UCC could point to goalkeeper Eddie Carey as one of the principal reasons for their narrow win over DCU. He was particularly good in the second half when UCC had to face a gale force wind.

They took a two goal lead into that second period after Brendan O'Riordan had smashed home a free from 30 yards and Jamie Lennon headed in a corner from O'Riordan.

Centre back Sean Cronin was another influencing force for UCC and he headed against the cross bar with one scoring attempt and saw another effort from inside his own half of the pitch beat the goalkeeper and fly narrowly wide.

It was Carey who finally swung the match for UCC saving superbly from Trevor Moore as DCU raised their game in the second half. The Dublin side had claims for a penalty turned down before Carey brought off another magnificent save from Andy Dunne, whose departure with injury soon afterwards spoiled DCU's hopes of saving the game.
