Peter Clarke, the 20-year-old Irish-born tennis prospect, who recently arrived in Ireland after 13 years in Australia, is currently playing the ATP circuit in Florida. But the talented Dubliner anxiously awaits the outcome of Tennis Ireland's disciplinary investigations into incidents that marred last week's quarter-final of the National Open Indoor championships at Riverview.
Clarke was not available to attend at last Saturday's disciplinary meeting which dealt with "the issues involved", but had met with the Tennis Ireland's chief executive Officer, Des Allen. Clarke seems certain to play Davis Cup for Ireland but he made the headlines for all the wrong reasons during and after the controversial quarter-final tie won by David Mullins. Allen said yesterday that the investigations are ongoing and that the disciplinary committee will meet again on the matter.
