The National League's yuletide shopping spree appeared to be gathering pace yesterday when English striker Jason Kabia moved from league leaders Cork City across to Waterford United.

Kabia only arrived at Turners Cross last season but his career at the club was initially disrupted by a long term injury. Over the course of his 15 months at City, despite his reputation for tireless running, he failed to score nearly as regularly as manager Dave Barry might have hoped.

United will be anxious to see him increase his strike-rate over the coming months. So far the club have struggled terribly up front, the joint top scorers in a team that has managed just nine goals between them - the league's lowest total - having picked up just two apiece.

Elsewhere Fergal Harkin continues to interest a number of clubs with Shamrock Rovers hoping to steal in ahead of Finn Harps for the Donegalman's signature but the player himself is still apparently undecided as to which of several offers to take.

Galway United have transfer listed two of their squad, John "Jumbo" Brennan and Ryan Lucas both having been made available for loan periods or permanent moves to other clubs.
