Bray W 2 Shelbourne 3:SHELBOURNE'S Paddy Kavanagh returned to sink his former club with a late winner in a five-goal thriller at the Carlisle Grounds. The winger settled it on 77 minutes after a resolute Bray, who played half the game with 10 men, had twice come from behind.
A mix-up between Dane Massey and Kevin Knight gifted Shelbourne the opening goal on 28 minutes as David Cassidy delightfully chipped Darren Quigley from the edge of the area.
A blunder in the Shelbourne box allowed Bray back into the game on 36 minutes. Brian Shortall miscontrolled and Kieran Waters pounced in a flash to sweep home off his left foot from 16 yards.
The game appeared to swing Shelbourne’s way in the final minute of the half as they regained the lead through Philly Gorman and Waters received a straight red card for raising his hands to Gareth Matthews after a bad challenge on Shortall.
Bray, who went with three at the back, then levelled after 49 minutes when goalkeeper Chris Bennion failed to collect Knight’s cross and the ball fell for John Mulroy who drilled it to the net.
