Hurling Munster Cup/ Limerick 1-19 Waterford IT 3-10: Limerick won their first piece of silverware in nine years when seeing off Waterford IT in a high-scoring Waterford Crystal Munster Cup final at the Gaelic Grounds yesterday.

Limerick, after having opened an 11-point advantage - 1-15 to 0-7 - by the start of the third quarter with Mark Keane scoring their goal, allowed Brian Dowling (two) and Conor Phelan set up a tight finish with three goals.

Waterford will meet UCC in the Munster Shield final. The former had a 2-20 to 0-9 victory over Tipperary in Colligan on Saturday while the students beat Kerry by 5-20 to 0-11 in Tralee yesterday.
