CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: Roy Keane looks certain to miss this month's friendly international against the US after picking up what his club said last night was a hamstring injury in the Champions League quarter-final first leg win over Deportivo La Coruna.

Keane went down awkwardly after clashing with Deportivo's Sergio four minutes before half-time in the game, and there initial fears that he had again damaged his knee ligaments, an injury that would have ruled him out of this summer's World Cup.

He had to be stretchered out of the game and looked to be in considerable discomfort, but United quickly issued a statement in which it claimed that the Irishman had pulled his hamstring and was likely to be out for between three and four weeks.

Meanwhile, his team-mate Ruud van Nistelrooy said of Manchester United's famous win: "We did fantastic here today - we knew it was a hard place to go.

"We defended and attacked as a team - everyone was brilliant today. It's a great result.

"We scored two goals in the first half and had opportunities to score two or three more."

On his goal, which gave United a 2-0 lead, the Dutch striker said: "It was a great cross from Mikael (Silvestre).

"We said at half-time we have to do the same as we had done in the first half - and we did. We're very happy now."

On the injuries to Keane and David Beckham, van Nistelrooy added: "I hope they'll be fine - but we'll see what happens."

Ryan Giggs said: "I think it was the performance we were looking for. To score two goals here and come away with a clean sheet is very pleasing.

"But I should have scored two. I had two great chances and I'm disappointed to miss them.

"It was difficult because they always come back at you, they have great attacking options."

On the Beckham injury, the Welsh winger added: "He's got some ice on it now and we'll have a look in the morning. It's a bit too early to say."
