Robbie Keane says he will not consider a loan move to the Premier League in January unless he has fully recovered from minor injury problems that have dogged him over the tail end of LA Galaxy’s successful MLS season.

“I am going to rest up and get ready for next season with the Galaxy,” said the Dubliner, who is back in Ireland for Christmas and who was working for FAI sponsors 3 on their Bringing Everyone Closer campaign yesterday.

“I haven’t even thought about taking up with any other teams. I have a few little niggles that I have to sort out before I even contemplate making any decisions,” he said.

“There has been a lot of speculation and a few clubs are interested.

“But it wouldn’t be right for me to go anywhere if I wasn’t 100 per cent fit and ready. I don’t have any major problems, just an Achilles injury, but if that isn’t right, I won’t be going anywhere.”
