Shelbourne are expected to sign Derry City's winger James Keddy following agreement between the two clubs last night. The Northern club had rejected an offer £10,000 from Shelbourne but it is believed the Tolka Park side increased the offer by £5,000 which appears to have been accepted.

Derry City manager Felix Healy said last night: "James gave us great balance on the left wing but he has become frustrated with the regular journeys from Dublin for home matches.

As far as I'm aware, the chairmen of both clubs have now agreed a fee and, provided he agrees personal terms with Dermot Keely, I would expect him to sign for Shelbourne before the weekend," he concluded.

Shelbourne's board has voted to reject a proposed takeover of the club which had been the subject of negotiations between Tolka Park officials and representatives of a Dublin-based consortium of businessmen for several weeks.

Meanwhile, Drogheda United's hope of a quick return to the Premier Division of the National League received a timely boost yesterday with the arrival of Fergal Coleman from Galway United for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old striker, who was the First Division's top scorer with 13 goals last season signed a two-year deal and will make his debut in Saturday's opening league fixture against Cobh Ramblers.
