NEWCASTLE face opposition from the English First Division, in the shape of Charlton, at the Valley tomorrow (Sky Sports, 1.0) with manager Kevin Keegan insisting that they need to travel better.
"Our away form has been poor this season," he said. "We must try and rectify that, starting on Sunday. Certainly our last two games have given everyone at the club a huge boost. If we can continue to perform at that level we should go through to the next round. Charlton try and play good football and we will treat them as if they were a Premiership side."
England midfielder Robert Lee will be excused if he is spotted day dreaming before kick off. Charlton sold him to Newcastle for £700,000 four years ago and the money was used to rebuild the Valley.
Lee said: "Make no mistake this is a tough tie for us as Charlton are a good home team. But for a bit of bad luck this season they would be much higher in division one and we will have to be on our best form to win."
Swindon manager Steve McMahon's game plan for their match against Everton at Goodison tomorrow may be to shackle Andrei Kanchelskis in the hope of cutting off the supply to striker Duncan Ferguson.
"I am sure that will be the manager's tactic," said central defender Mark Robinson. "Ferguson is a threat and if we can limit the service to him that might be half the Everton go into the match aiming to avoid a hat trick of home defeats in eight days. New signing Terry Phelan is ineligible for the game and David Unsworth is still suspended giving manager Joe Royle a selection headache.
He has seen his side win only once in the last seven games and the fans have become increasingly frustrated at their ability to stay the pace in the Premiership title race.
