TWO goals from Shamrock Rovers' striker Mark Reid ruined Dermot Keely's Home Farm managerial debut, though he can take some solace from the fact that his side deserved at least a point from a match that, once it took off, provided the moderate attendance with an action packed spectacle.
Keely's arrival has clearly rubbed off on Home Farm already as they totally dominated the game from the kick off with Chris Lawless, playing alongside new signing John Byrne in the middle of the field, instrumental in everything they did in the first half, including scoring their first goal after 14 minutes.
Lawless had two efforts on goal, the first in the opening minute, before putting Home Farm ahead with a stunning strike.
The home side gradually got into the game and got a scarcely deserved equaliser three minutes before half time. A cross from Lee Williams found Tony Cousins' in the area. His shot was blocked by Ray Duffy, but Mark Reid, somewhat subdued up to that, raced in to shoot low past O'Shea.
Rovers, no doubt with Pat Byrne's half time chat still ringing in their ears, were a different side in the second half and took just seven minutes to take the lead. A free kick from the left by Williams was met by Reid who headed powerfully past O'Shea for his second goal.
We were then treated to a scintillating end to end game as both sides attacked each other until the final whistle.
