The Leinster club saga between Rathnew and Dunshaughlin goes into a third game after the teams again ended all square on Saturday at Aughrim after a marathon 90minute thriller.
Dunshaughlin got out of jail in Saturday's replay when they came from behind twice in normal time and extra time to force a draw.
Rathnew, despite being without the suspended Mark Coffey from the first encounter, set the pace in this match after the Meath club had taken an early lead twice with points from Richie and Brendan Kealy. The Wicklow champions forged ahead by 08 to 0-3 at the break.
Full forward Tommy Gill was the inspiration for Rathnew, giving Dunshaughlin's Kenny McTigue a torrid afternoon as he banged over 10 of his side's 14 points.
Near the three-quarter stage, Dunshaughlin looked to be in real trouble, but they were gifted a crucial goal by some sloppy Rathnew defending that allowed the unmarked Mick McHale to rifle a shot to the net, narrowing the gap to a single point, 0-9 to 1-5. Two minutes into injury time they got another rub of the green from referee John Bannon, who awarded them a dubious free for Trevor Dowd to fire over the equalising point.
Rathnew succeeded in opening up a three-point gap, 0-14 to 1-8, in the first period of extra time. Again Dunshaughlin managed to claw their way back with midfielder Niall Kelly putting over a 50-metre free for the second equaliser.
