A brave second-half fightback by Limerick champions Fr Casey's came up just short Eire Og, in Saturday's Munster Club Football Championship first found game played at Cusack Park, Ennis on Saturday. Eire Og now meet Cork's Nemo Rangers in the semi-final on November 19th at a Clare venue.
For the entire first half, the home side enjoyed complete dominance, but for all their possession they could only manage to rack up a four-point lead (0-5 to 0-1) at the half way stage.
Following the resumption the Clare men further increased their lead when corner forward Mark Kelly fisted an opportunist goal after Fr Casey's goalkeeper Toddy McMahon failed to hold a shot by his namesake Bryan.
However, this goal proved the catalyst for an Abbeyfeale revival. Now playing with the wind at their backs, they began to chip away at the lead, initially pulling back two points through freetaker Aidan Enright.
Tom Fitzgerald added four more points in a half that Fr Casey's bravely commanded, yet a stout defensive display by Eire Og held the Limerick men at bay.
