SIGERSON CUP:St Mary's Belfast 2-9 Carlow IT1-8   AS YESTERDAY'S game entered injury-time at St Paul's, Belfast, only a point separated the teams, but, in a finishing flourish, a fisted goal by St Mary's full forward John Kelly polished off Carlow IT.

A goal by Niall Kilcoyne on 28 minutes left Carlow 1-3 to 0-5 ahead at half-time. However, CJ McGourty levelled in the 32nd minute, before John Kelly put the Belfast side ahead. Then, in the 35th minute, McGourty was sent through by Kevin Niblock and the winger rattled the net.

Carlow’s Barry Fitzgerald fired over five points to just two in reply, but Kelly’s late strike sealed the victory for St Mary’s.
