RAY KENDAL has been nominated by the IASA for the position of treasurer on the Olympic Council of Ireland. Kendal is one of the best known Irish officers in swimming internationally. He is a member of LEN, swimming's prestigious European controlling body, and is a delegate to FINA.
Kendal is also a highly respected referee in international circles and has already been appointed to referee at this season's European Championships in Seville.
Meanwhile, the new season gets off to what looks like a promising start with the Larne sprint tests on September 28th. The Leinster Branch have a graded meeting lined up for October 12th and 13th as well as a Leinster Distance meet on October 12th. Next month will also see the Dolphin Open in Cork over three days - October 18th, 19th and 20th - while The Wexford Festival meet will round off the month on the Bank Holiday weekend.
Leinster and Cormorant have major plans for events in November and the City of Dublin team will be introducing their age group competition "the Young Euros Sprints" meet on November 23rd and 24th.
The Ulster Distance meet on November 23rd and the King's Hospital Open Gala on November 29th 30th and December 1st are also listed.
