In an exciting match at Drumcollogher yesterday, Intermediate School, Killorglin set up an all Kerry final when they had a goal to spare over their Clare opponents. Already through to the hurling final, St Flannan's, Ennis, had high hopes of making it a double; but a combination of a missed penalty and the loss of full back Marty Whelan through injury, all contrived to deny them a place in the football final for the third year in a row.
There was little to choose between two evenly-matched sides until ISK forward Liam Sheehan blasted home a goal in the 10th minute. St Flannan's recovered impressively with a succession of points to be on level terms at half-time.
It was nip and tuck for most of the second half before Ross Sheehan's excellent free-taking edged Killorglin three points in front and they stayed there to the finish.
