REIGNING All Ireland champions, Kerry retained their Munster under-21 football crown with victory over Clare at Tralee's Austin Stack Park on Saturday evening.
Kerry amassed four points before Clare got their first score, when Mickey O'Shea pointed a free in the ninth minute. Clare gradually came into the game, principally through the efforts of Ciaran Nugent and John Leahy, but Kerry got back on top, and with wing back Charlie McCarthy showing superb form, they closed the half 0-8 to 0-3 in front.
James O'Shea put the issue beyond doubt with two goals in the 47th and 48th minutes. Substitute Brian Clarke, scored the game's final goal.
