Kerry view

Paidi O Se: "Overall there has been a very similar approach with this team and the team of 1997. We've had another strong panel and a great bunch of players but one thing I will say is that the intensity of training has been a little bit higher. We started very early in the year on a sand track in the Legion club and I think physically we are a little stronger this year.

"So the preparations have gone very well. And we know a lot about Galway from playing them in challenge matches in recent years but of course the All-Ireland final is a different kettle of fish. Still, we're reasonably happy with the line-up at the moment, especially with our two midfielders who are likely to have a big bearing on the outcome here. And Galway obviously have some great pace in the forwards which we are aware of and will have to match.

"Of course Mike Frank Russell had a superb game in the semi-final and there's no denying that but he is a very natural player. Still, we're just delighted to be in the final, and we're counting our lucky stars that we are in the final. For a lot of that semi-final against Armagh we didn't look like we'd be here at all. I expect this to be a very traditional game of football and like so many of our recent meetings I expect nothing more than a kick of a ball to decide it."

Opposition view

Armagh captain Kieran McGeeney on Kerry's management: "The big question around the management has been the decision to leave Maurice Fitzgerald on the bench. But I would look at that from two points of view. Fitzgerald is obviously one of the best footballers in the country and yet he may not completely fit into Paidi O Se's plan at the moment. The strategy is to get the ball into Mike Frank Russell and John Crowley as fast as possible and while Fitzgerald is a big playmaker, he may not totally fit that tactic.

"Having said that, he is a superb player to spring from the bench. As a defender you might be on Aodhan MacGearailt or Noel Kennelly for 50 minutes and then suddenly you're facing Fitzgerald. That can be very intimidating. Personally I would start him but his role as substitute is a tactic that has been working very well. He's an incredible ace to have in reserve.

"The management have also played their substitutions very well, especially in the period of extra time against us. So much of it these days depends on who you can bring on in the later stages and in that regard Kerry are very strong. I also think it's a wise move to bring Liam Hassett back into the attack. He is a very aggressive player and will cause plenty of problems for any defensive line.

"I think that Kerry also found out a lot about themselves in the two games against us. They will have the belief to win this and I would also expect them to be a little too strong for Galway. But John O'Mahony is a very shrewd manager himself and it should be a good footballer's final."
