Kerry 2-22 Waterford 0-6: Kerry gained revenge for last year's Munster final defeat when they routed Waterford at the Fitzgerald Stadium Killarney last evening. Waterford manager Pat Nugent had threatened to quit if his side lost as he felt the footballers were not given a fair chance when a request to postpone a West Divisional Board under-21 final was turned down and thus Nugent lost Shane Walsh and Michael Walsh.

Kerry led 1-14 to 0-0 at half-time as Kieran Donaghy shone at midfield and Colm Cooper ran riot. Kerry's run started with a Seamie Foley point in the third minute and continued at a point a minute as Declan O'Sullivan, Bryan Sheehan and Cooper helped Kerry jump 0-5 to 0-0 in front after just seven minutes.

Kerry's goal came in the 20th minute after a piece of genius by Cooper, who was at the end of long O'Sullivan delivery. He flicked the ball over the head of the defender, before drawing the goalkeeper and feeding Dan Doona who blasted the ball to net. Kerry tacked on seven more points before half-time with Cooper, Sheehan and Doona continuing to impress.

Kerry maintained their dominance in the second half. Foley landed another point before Waterford managed to score with a free from Michael Donnelly. Cooper converted a free before being withdrawn.
