Sheikh Mohammed's operation in Ireland is centred on Kildangan Stud, just outside Kildare town, but he has five stud properties in all here. Between a string with Curragh trainer John Oxx and young horses at Kildangan, the Sheikh also has approximately 75 horses in training in Ireland. Sheikh Mohammed's brother, Sheikh Hamdan, owns the 1,530 acre Derrinstown Stud outside Maynooth which stands five stallions and has horses in training with Dermot Weld and Kevin Prendergast. Their older brother, Sheikh Maktoum, doesn't have such a big racing commitment in Ireland but owns the 700 acre Woodpark Stud near Dunboyne, Co Meath.

Kildangan Stud sponsor the Irish Oaks at the Curragh and the Maktoum family have won the Irish Derby five times, on the first occasion with Shareef Dancer in 1983.
