THE Kildare County Board are to convene a special meeting on Tuesday week to decide on proposals relating to the county's senior football team management.
Dermot Earley's two year term as manager is now terminated, but the indications are that he could remain on, pending the outcome of the board meeting.
The four proposals to go before the board are that the present management stay in place that there be only three selectors, to be nominated by the county chairman, secretary and a member of the county committee that there be five selectors, selected by the county committee and that a manager be appointed to review Kildare football, put a two year plan in place and take charge of the county senior team.
Meanwhile, Roscommon are bound to be under strength for their Connacht senior hurling title bid against Galway tomorrow evening.
The middle of the road Division Three National League team are again cast unfairly some might say in the role of chopping blocks for the might of Matt Murphy's team. The challengers' camp accept their virtually hopeless task.
"To get a respectable score is about the best we can hope for concedes John Haughey, the Roscommon Hurling Board secretary.
The winners are assured of an All Ireland quarter final meeting with the winners of the All Ireland "B" Champions versus the winners of New York v London clash, on July 21st.
But, as if Roscommon's resources were not limited enough, they are faced with the possibility of playing minus the services of their best player, mid fielder Colm Kelly.
