Kildare will be without midfielder Niall Buckley, who has a hamstring injury, when they take on Offaly in the Leinster football championship at Croke Park on Sunday.
Kildare have left the corner forward position vacant pending a fitness test on Cathal Sheridan. He filled the position during the league campaign, and will undergo a fitness test on his back injury tomorrow. Goalkeeper Christy Byrne, who has recently recovered from a knee injury, has been named - although he is still not certain to line out - while John Finn will start at full back instead of Ronan Quinn.
Finn's place on the half back line will be taken by Derek Maher, a regular during the league, who makes his championship debut.
In Buckley's absence, Paul McCormack will partner Willie McCreery at midfield.
If Sheridan makes it, the team will show three changes from last year's All-Ireland final team, Maher and Paul McCormack replacing Seamus Dowling (who has retired) and Buckley - and Sheridan coming in for Padraig Gravin, who is injured.
Meanwhile, Offaly bring in one newcomer to senior championship football - Bernard O'Brien from the Ballinamere club, and his selection follows some good performances in the league.
The team is very much along expected lines, with Sean Grennan and John Ryan the only players ruled out by injury. Barry Malone has been named at full back while his brother, Roy, will line out at left half forward with Jimmy Stewart starting at centre forward.
In hurling, Tipperary have kept faith with the 15 players who started the drawn match against Clare for their replay in Pairc Ui Chaoimh on Saturday. John Leahy and Brian O'Meara are placed at corner forward and half forward respectively with the result that Tipperary have made only minimal changes as they attempt to emphasise their superiority over Clare.
As expected, Ken Mortimer, an All Star corner back, will play at centre forward for Mayo in their Connacht football championship semi-final against Roscommon in Castlebar.
James Nallen and David Brady continue their partnership at midfield but there are two changes in attack with Mortimer and John Casey coming in for Ger Brady and Michael Moyles who played against New York in the first round.
Westmeath make two changes for their Leinster championship clash with Laois in the opening game at Croke Park. David Murphy comes in at full back for Russell Casey, who is ruled out by a shoulder injury, and Mark Staunton is at centre forward for Paul Conway (ankle injury). Casey and Conway failed tests yesterday, and Conway will undergo another test on Saturday to determine if he can take his place on the bench.
