A goal by Kilkenny senior Ken O'Sheawithin seconds of the throw-in got this Leinster Club SHC quarter-final off to a lively start at Naas yesterday afternoon. Substitute Jimmy Kinlon replied for Naas and this was quickly followed by Dunamaggin points from Eamon Kennedy and Mick Moran, before Kinlon hit the net in the 11th minute for the last goal of the game.

Dunnamaggin took control with two points by Sean Ryan and one from Moran. Naas rallied thanks to Tim Shanahan and Conal Boran, but they trailed by 1-3 to 1-5 at half-time.

Naas took the initiative after the interval and Shanahan pointed twice without reply. Underdogs Naas were now on level terms, but they were unable to take the lead. Instead Dunnamaggin's Moran hit three scores without reply to effectively put Naas out of the competition.

Jimmy Kinlon scored the last point for Naas with eight minutes left to play. That left the Kildare champions two points behind, but the newlycrowned Kilkenny supremos got through to the semi-final for the first time in their history, with two more points from Moran and one from Ryan.
