Golf:Kilkenny lifted another All-Ireland title today, this time it was in the Barton Shield at the GUI Cup and Shields Finals at Tullamore Golf Club in Offaly where they narrowly defeated Ulster champions Banbridge by one hole.

In the top pairing Kilkenny’s Paul O'Hara and Craig Martin teamed up and defeated Rory Leonard Ciaran McAleavey by what proved to be a decisive one hole margin.

Former Ireland international Eddie Power and Richie Walsh ensured victory in the foursomes format event when they halved with Connor Doran and Alastair McCully.

In the Junior Cup final Malone got the better of Oughterard 3.5-1.5 to claim one of the coveted green pennants. There were wins for Barry Brennan (6 and 5), Dan McCrea (5 and 3) and Andy Montgomery (1 hole).

In the Pierce Purcell Shield Corrstown and Letterkenny will contest tomorrow’s final after their respective 3-2 semi-final wins over Douglas and Loughrea.
