Kilkenny College 39 St Andrew's College 7:KILKENNY COLLEGE romped to a decisive 32 points win in Arklow yesterday as they ran in seven tries against hapless St Andrew's College.

The Booterstown side were put on the back foot by a stronger and robust Kilkenny pack that provided the platform for their school’s victory.

Building on the momentum created before Christmas when winning the Leinster League, Kilkenny College drew first blood after 10 minutes when Robin Foot scored the first of his two tries and Joshua Moynan added a second 15 minutes later, both scores grounded on the good work of the pack driving forward relentlessly.

St Andrew’s lost their captain Killian McCarthy to injury and that did not help their cause, and they fell 17 points behind before the break as Ross Deacon crashed over after the ball was fed out the line.

Simon Williams added the conversion having failed with the two earlier kicks.

Things did not get much better for the Dublin side after the restart as Foot and Shane Delahunt stretched the Kilkenny lead to 27 points with two more tries, but St Andrew’s had the consolation of Ben Ingram scoring a marvellous individual try as he sliced through the Kilkenny cover from the 10-metre line. Luke De Renzy converted.

But it was Kilkenny who continued to dominate with two further tries by outhalf Even Kelly and Michael Triggs.
